Purpose of modernization: substantial improvement of combat capabilities and operating characteristics of large-scale aviation equipment.

Modernization will ensure:

• employment of high-precision guided (corrected) weapon for destruction of ground (surface) targets;
• employment of missiles with active seeker РВВ-АЕ against air targets;
• improvement of accuracy characteristics of navigation systems;
• solution of reconnaissance and strike tasks;
• improvement of quality and completeness of on-board systems’ operation capability control;
• enhancement of combat capabilities due to round-the-clock and all-weather employment;
• increase of maximum height of bomb-dropping from 2 000 up to 5 000 m
