The DML-150S Laser Methane Detector Has Successfully Passed Tests in the Harsh Conditions of Siberia
In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region, successful tests were conducted on the DML-150 methane laser detector manufactured by Peleng JSC, which was integrated by the customer with the OG-65 unmanned aerial platform and used as part of the methane detection aviation complex.
The tests were conducted at the end of January at temperatures ranging from -30°C to -43°C and wind speeds of 8-12 m/s. The flights lasted 53 and 65 minutes, with a maximum distance from the launch point of over 40 kilometres while maintaining uninterrupted communication.
The complex demonstrated stable operation without failures or malfunctions. The DML-150S accurately detected leaks of varying intensity (350–6902 ppm•m), recorded methane clouds up to 100 m from the gas outlet point, and identified all types of simulated leaks on main gas pipelines and large-scale facilities. During the tests, the ability to obtain reliable, geographically referenced data for reporting was demonstrated. In addition to the high accuracy of methane leak detection and localisation, the test participants noted the user-friendly software interface and the quality of the DML-150S video channel display.
The introduction of the methane detection aviation complex for monitoring gas infrastructure will significantly reduce the time needed to identify potentially hazardous areas, improve monitoring accuracy, detect methane leaks promptly, and make infrastructure control more technologically advanced and effective.
